Midwest City Soccer Club
Director of Coaching and Player Development
Tom Odhiambo, a native of Kisumu, Kenya is our Director of Player Development. Tom was born and reared in Kenya and has played for some of the most famous football clubs in Kenya, the Gor Mahia Football Club, Kenya Breweries Football Club among them....and has won some of the biggest matches! Tom also played internationally for Kenya's national team. He has even been enshrined into the annals of sports history by having his likeness re-created in a video game.
We hand selected Tom as our Director of Player Development, because he lives and breathes soccer and has done so his entire life. Most importantly though, he knows how to communicate what he's learned to the players in a way that they can understand, learn and improve. He is an exceptional player but an even better trainer and coach. He holds a USSF National 'C' License and USSF National Youth License among many others.
Having played here in Oklahoma City at Oklahoma Christian University in 2001, he helped the Eagles reach the National Quarterfinals of the NAIA by scoring 22 goals that season. Previously, he had been part of three consecutive NAIA National Championship teams at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky. Collectively, he was selected as a four-time NAIA All-American for his efforts on the pitch. He still ranks fifth for career goals in the NAIA (108) and sixth in points (254).
To go along with his immense playing accomplishments, Tom has a ton of coaching experience across all levels. He is currently an Assistant Coach at OCU for the Men's program and coaches in Midwest City Soccer Club at both the Competitive level (Fusion '00 and Fusion '03) and Academy level (Vision '05). He has previous coaching stops at Putnam City West High School, Edmond Sante Fe High School and at both Edmond Soccer Club and the Southern Kentucky Soccer Club. We are proud to have Tom here with us at Midwest City Soccer Club.
Tom is married to Claudia Pham-Odhiambo, who you may see out on the pitch as well, coaching in the U6 division and has his both son, Simba (Academy) and daughter, Isabela (Recreational) playing in the club.
Look for Tom out on the pitch on the next match day!
